Everything that swims, floats or lives by the sea is collected here. A whale blows a spout of water, a shark glides by with a toothy grin, a turtle walks along the sand and a striped fish trails bubbles. A maze winds through an ocean scene. An under-the-sea picture asks children to compare two drawings and circle what changed.
Each sea animal comes as an easy and a standard coloring page, a tracing sheet, a drawing guide and dot to dots in three levels. The fish, the shark and the turtle also get animal-shaped mazes. Later in the season a jumping dolphin, a waving octopus, a mermaid on a rock and a seaside day with a castle and a sailboat join them.
An ocean week
Teachers often pair these pages with a lesson on sea life. Children color the animals, trace them, then sort them into fish and not fish. At home, an ocean page is a calm activity after a trip to the beach or the aquarium. The puzzle answers sit on page two. A class set can be page one only, printed at 100 percent on A4 or US Letter, with the key kept at the teacher’s desk.
